What the Group Is About

Men are taught to “be strong” and keep it together. But real strength isn’t about shutting down
—it’s about knowing when to stand tall and when to open up.

Strong Back, Soft Front is a 6-week program for men who want more steadiness under pressure,
more confidence in speaking their needs, and more intimacy in their relationships.

Inspired by Zen teacher Roshi Joan Halifax’s teaching of “Strong Back, Soft Front”
resilience balanced with vulnerability—this group is a space to practice strength with openness.


We’ll explore:

  • Strong Back: Learning to hold your ground with confidence and healthy boundaries.

  • Soft Front: Developing the courage to open, connect, and let others in without losing yourself.

  • Emotional Attunement: Building the skills to relate more deeply—to partners, family, and friends—with presence instead of defensiveness or withdrawal.
